Delaney Dreckman

Erie has given my family so much — a place to raise our children, build lifelong friendships, and put down roots. I'm running for Town Council because I want to help preserve what makes Erie special while planning responsibly for its future.

As a mom, I think about the Erie my children will inherit. As an appraiser and Planning Commissioner, I think about the decisions we make today to ensure that future is possible.

My husband, our two kids, and our sweet dog are proud Erie residents.

I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I spent my summers on my family’s sheep ranch in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Although I grew up in San Diego, some of my most formative experiences happened on my family's ranch. For nearly 100 years, my family has worked together to steward our Colorado ranchland through sheep production, wildlife habitat, and big game hunting. Today, the ranch is permanently protected by a conservation easement — a reflection of our family's commitment to preserving the land for future generations. Growing up with that responsibility instilled in me the values of stewardship, long-term planning, and leaving something better than you found it, principles that continue to guide both my professional career and my public service.

I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business. I met my husband, Dean, at CSU while he was getting his Bachelors in Business and Masters of Accountancy. Go Rams!

I have worked in rural real estate for the past decade. As a Certified General Appraiser, I focus on farms, ranches, and water rights consulting and appraisals in Colorado. My work has given me a unique perspective on land use, water resources, property rights, and responsible growth across the state. This is experience I bring to every decision I make. I'm passionate about helping landowners, agricultural producers, and communities make informed decisions about Colorado's rural landscapes. My career has shown me that lasting conservation only works when it respects private property rights, fairly compensates agricultural producers, and uses conservation tools that permanently protect the land while supporting those who care for it. My career has also given me specialized experience in Colorado water rights, one of the most complex and valuable assets our community owns. I'll bring that knowledge to help Erie make informed, long-term decisions that protect our water security for future generations.

I joined the Erie Planning Commission in 2023 and I now serve as the Vice Chair. Serving on the Planning Commission has given me firsthand experience reviewing development proposals, considering long-term planning decisions, and listening to residents with different perspectives. It has strengthened my commitment to protecting what makes Erie feel like home while planning responsibly for the future.

Dean and I have served as the Longmont Location Coordinators for Wreaths Across America for the past seven years. Together with generous community support, we've helped raise more than $20,000 each year to place wreaths on veterans' graves at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving our veteran community has reinforced my belief that meaningful leadership begins with service, stewardship, and a commitment to leaving our community better than we found it.

Dean is a Colorado native, Marine Corps veteran, and corporate finance professional (CPA). I'm incredibly proud of his service to our country and the example he sets for our children.

Our two children, Deano and Liberty, keep us busy and remind us every day why thoughtful planning and responsible local government matter. When I think about traffic, parks, schools, public safety, and fiscal responsibility, I don’t think of them as talking points. I think about whether my children, and someday their children, will still recognize the Erie we fell in love with.

Our family is active in the Erie community. Dean coaches our son's teeball team and I coach his soccer teams, both through the Town of Erie. As a family, you'll often find us swimming at the Colliers Hill pool, visiting Erie's incredible parks and playgrounds, or spending warm summer evenings outside with our neighbors. Boo on Briggs and the Erie Town Fair are two of our favorite days of the year. These everyday moments are a big part of why we love Erie. In our free time, we love to go fishing, camping, and hiking. Dean and I are avid big game hunters, and we can't wait to share that tradition with our kids someday.

We're grateful to call Erie home and are excited to raise our children here. I want to ensure the Erie they grow up in is every bit as welcoming, connected, and special as the community we've come to love.
